Edge Common and Stockend Wood

We planned a walk starting from Haresfield Lane Gloucester, but on arrival to the end of the lane off the Bristol Road we were confronted by the runners participating in the Gloucester marathon. So we headed off towards Stroud to try another walk. After around 20 minutes we spotted a signpost towards Haresfield and stopped in the Edgemoor Inn car park.
From the car park we crossed the main road A4173 and followed the footpath sign which led us up the Cotswold Way and onto Edge Common. On the top of Edge Common a fantastic view of Painswick could be seen in the valley below. Across the other side of the common the footpath led over a country road and into wooded area signposted Stockend Wood.
We walked on a further 25 minutes before returning back the way we had come.
The whole walk took an hour and although Luna enjoyed running through the woods there wasn’t much to photograph. It was a shame that we couldn’t follow the walk we had originally planned which would have taken us to Haresfield Beacon and other points of interest.
I did mange to capture a few photos of sunlight breaking through the trees and of course Luna enjoyed posing for the camera. We finished the walk with refreshments in the Edgemoor Inn.
